Abstract
EthicHub is a ReFi (Regenerative Finance) protocol helping unbanked farmers access capital at low interest rates. Since its inception in 2018 and as of today 10 May 2022, EthicHub has intermediated more than $2M in loans and are helping over 1250 families in 21 communities. cornerstone and biggest asset is the crowd-collateral it created with its community. EthicHub’s community who buy the $Ethix token and stake it on behalf of unbanked farmers, enable farmers to attract more investors to invest capital in their projects; whilst giving those same farmers a security in the case of loan default and be able to pay back those capital investors.
What is EthicHub?
EthicHub is the first Regenerative Finance (ReFi) solution for the financially underserved: helping them secure lending for sustainable impact. Yield farmers back actual farmers with regenerative practices, connecting DeFi to the productive economy of the real world: a crowd-lending backed by crowd-collateral.
By leveraging the power of blockchain technology and smart contracts, lenders from all over the world are able to invest in the productivity of unbanked smallholder farmers, providing them access to affordable capital with minimised risk loans, all enabled by EthicHub’s Compensation System. It provides a liquid collateral to the lender’s capital in the form of staking Ethix, its own token.
Through EthicHub’s protocol, anyone can lend capital to the farmers and/or stake collateral on their behalf in the form of Ethix to secure the farmers’ loans. EthicHub also provides farmers with access to added value markets so they are no longer the weakest link in the supply chain.

What is the Ethix Token?
Ethix is a token that bridges DeFi with productive economy. EthicHub has run a successful p2p lending operation for 30 months to coffee farmers in Mexico with 0% default rate and 500K USD funded. DeFi is yet an only financial economy artefact because of the challenges that going out the digital world implies. The Why behind EthicHub
From EthicHub’s perspective, Traditional Finance (TradFi)’s biggest deficiency was to leave out a quarter of the world’s population, the so-called Unbanked. Most of the Unbanked are smallholder farmers who despite having profitable activities have no access to formal credit. Although there are different causes, the root cause is their lack of eligible collateral.
In 2017, EthicHub came to life and developed financial inclusion solutions fitted for smallholder farmers around the world. By providing them affordable financing in a sustainable win/win model, Unbanked farmers are able to break free from the Poverty Cycle (expensive and insufficient working capital prevents them from saving to invest into improving their productivity).
EthicHub’s Compensation System (CS)
EthicHub’s Compensation System (CS) represents an integral part of the protocol. It was created to minimize the risk associated with investing in smallholder farmers and it operates with Ethix, the utility token designed to generate the crypto incentives to boost proper behavior among all stakeholders to align their interest.
As mentioned earlier, smallholder farmers in emerging economies lack eligible collateral to ask for loans and they have neither tokenizable assets nor the data that would allow them a credit scoring for alternative financing. Consequently, providing loans with a liquid collateral highly increases unbanked farmers’ chances to be financed because the risk associated with lending them is thereby considerably contained.
Ethix Demand
- Each loan has a fee to be covered by the compensation system. This fee is used to buy back Ethix from the market creating a sustainable demand. Bought Ethix are sent to the Compensation Reserve. The starting point is 4% fee.
- Ethix holders buying Ethix to stake on behalf of Loan Originators (Specific staking pools with initial high APY to incentivize backing of new Originators). Their rewards can be collected daily but staked Ethix can be retrieved from the pool only when the project is fully paid back.
- Ethix holders buying Ethix to stake on the general staking pool get daily rewards (APY) that can be retrieved daily; their original stake can be retrieved after a ten day cooldown period.
- Loan Originators need to buy Ethix to deposit them as collateral in their own staking pools (these tokens are not rewarded with daily APY).
- Auditors need to buy Ethix to stake them on behalf of their referred Originators. (these tokens are not rewarded with daily APY). Auditors benefit from a success fee when its referred Originator pays back its loan.
