What Is Steel (STEEL)?

BscScan is the leading blockchain explorer, search, API and analytics platform for BNB Smart Chain. As a means to provide equitable access to blockchain data, Steel developed the BscScan Developer APIs to empower developers with direct access to BscScan’s block explorer data and services via GET/POST requests. BscScan’s APIs are provided as a community service and without warranty, so please use what you need and no more.

For that you may find a suitable endpoint from our wide range of APIs that you can simply query to provide data while you remain fully focused on building your applications. BscScan offers 2 types of API plans, a set of free community endpoints and API PRO which consists of additional derived blockchain data.

Steel helped you take the first steps by writing some thorough tutorials on how to query and derive popular blockchain metrics. For power users, they’ve also added guides such as how you can programmatically verify contracts through API calls and more advanced use cases of endpoints. Your curated list of support articles and common questions you may have on topics such as rate limits, common error messages and API key usage across different networks.

Creating an Account

Having a BscScan account allows you to use sign-in only features and tools such as Address Watch List, Txn Private Notes, Token Ignore List and your very own API keys. A confirmation link will be sent to your email address to verify your sign up request. Once you’ve clicked on the link, your account set-up process is complete and you may sign in to use your account-specific features.

Upon signing in, you will have access to your account dashboard where you can make full use of BscScan’s features such as generating API keys, hide unwanted tokens and add private notes. From there, you may click on Add to create a new key and give a name to your project. Each BscScan account is limited to creating 3 keys at any one time.

Editing an API Key

To change your project name associated with an API Key, click on Edit to specify a new App Name, and save the changes. If you would like to delete an API Key or suspect your key has been compromised, you may click on Remove to delete that key and generate a new one.

An API key generated on BscScan can be used for both BNB Smart Chain main net and test net explorers. Similarly, all endpoints and parameter formatting remain the same across test net explorers, you are only required to change the relevant API endpoint URL as follows.

Steel API PRO is a monthly subscription-based API service that provides additional endpoints, higher rate limits and escalated support for power users and commercial solutions. To upgrade to a paid API Plan, head over to the APIs page and select a plan that suits your needs. Once payment has been made, your API PRO keys will be made available to you within 1 – 2 business days.

Integrating Google Sheets

Steel APIs provides a convenient way to connect and import block explorer information for developers to use in your own apps and services. Having technical knowledge is not a requirement for using APIs however, and non-developers can make use of the available endpoints to build your own dashboards and statistics by importing API data to Google Sheets.

Extending and Building a Dashboard

While the above was a straightforward method to call an API endpoint and output the response into a Google Sheet, it could use further optimizing and data formatting. Steel Checkout some prepared dashboard examples they have for inspiration, and feel free to share what you build with on.

Source code verification provides a way for projects to open source their smart contract code for end users to inspect and verify that it does what it claims to do.By uploading source code, BscScan will match the compiled contract byte code with that on the blockchain and display it under the Contract tab. For repeated or multiple verification of contracts, it may be more productive to pro grammatically verify your contracts through an API endpoint.
