What Is Orchid.com? (OXT) Complete Guide Review About Orchid.com

What Is Orchid.com?

Orchid.com (OXT) is the native token of a cryptocurrency-powered virtual private network (VPN). Launched in December 2019, describes itself as the world’s first incentivized, peer-to-peer privacy network. Its aim is to overcome internet freedom limitations by using cryptocurrency payments to allow anyone to purchase bandwidth from any participating provider. This is done using so-called probabilistic Nano payments, which occur using OXT, an ERC-20 standard token on Ethereum. Regular payments to providers occur off-chain, allowing to avoid problems with congestion and gas fees on the Ethereum network. The service is pay-per-use, meaning that users only have to contribute funds when they actually connect, instead of paying monthly or annual fees.

How Does it Work

The Orchid Coin network enables a decentralized virtual private network (VPN), allowing users to buy bandwidth from a global pool of service providers. To do this, uses an ERC-20 utility token called OXT, a new VPN protocol for token-incentivized bandwidth proxying, and smart-contracts with algorithmic advertising and payment functions. The users connect to bandwidth sellers using a provider directory, and they pay using probabilistic Nano payments so Ethereum transaction fees on packets are acceptably low.

Features

Pay-per-use

On you only pay for service while actually using the VPN. Turn it off, and there are no charges. And no monthly fees!

Provider network

Orchid.com change providers within the network with a click. If you don’t like one, simply tap to reconnect and get randomly reassigned.

Unlimited devices

You can share your account with an unlimited number of devices and people. Manage one account for your friends, family and all their devices.

Staking

Orchid Coin A provider stakes some number of OXT to create a stake deposit. Anyone can stake OXT on nodes using the smart contract. Clients select new nodes in proportion to their relative OXT deposit size. Larger stake deposits thus lead to proportionally more users, bandwidth, and revenue. If the node is already at max bandwidth capacity additional stake is effectively wasted.

The Orchid app

The Users of run a client similar to a typical VPN client for protocols such as OpenVPN, but which speaks the protocol. The network client goes past the basic functionality offered by most VPN clients, with features such as the ability to run traffic through an integrated personal firewall. The client is accessible via iOS, Android, macOS, Linux, and (soon) Windows.

The Orchid digital currency (OXT)

OXT’s primary and fundamental purpose is to keep track of who has used computing services, who has provided computing services, and whether the average user is fairly compensating the average provider.

The OXT digital currency provides value in the Orchid network in a number of ways:

  • A Bandwidth Provider – Anyone can operate an Node, but must first stake OXT, with the more OXT that is staked, the greater the chances of reward in the Network.
  • A Bandwidth User- For the first time, users can pay-on-the-fly for a private, secure internet connection. To power up the client, a user installs the VPN, adds OXT to a wallet, and then can access the internet through a user-chosen path to ensure a secure connection anywhere in the world. Users only pay for the bandwidth they consume.

The Orchid Protocol

The Orchid.com software is designed to use a custom VPN protocol, similar in scope to OpenVPN or Wire Guard. The protocol is designed for high-performance networking and runs on top of WebRTC, a common web standard, widely used to transmit video and audio from inside browsers. The protocol allows users to request access to remote network resources and pay for these resources using OXT via the Orchid Nano payments system.

The Values

The Internet is as integral to modern life as writing was to the ancient Greeks. The lives are digital, and the ramifications of the things they do and say online are as real as those in the physical world. grew from the dream of a future in which the whole lives — both the physical and the digital — could be private, decentralized, and censorship-free.
