Blockv provides a development platform with a complete set of APIs, robust tools and training that enable developers to create and emit digital objects on blockchain. These objects, called Vatoms, can be obtained and viewed across any mobile device. Vatoms are highly programmable, store and secure digital goods and move seamlessly between users. When combined with the creativity of the BLOCKv developer and partner community, Vatoms become the experience layer to the blockchain and present a new level of human engagement.
Find Unlimited 2020 ran over a month-long period from the 13th March to 6th April. The interactive AR experience utilised BLOCKv’s blockchain-based user interface to giveaway Vatom prizes as part of a location-based hunt. The campaign was active for a 3-hour window each day, during which users could hunt for the iconic Vodafone speechmark on the map. Each Vatom represented a unique gameplay that could be collected to reveal one of thousands of top tech prizes – from Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G handsets, to Samsung Galaxy Active2 Watches, Samsung Galaxy earbuds and 1000’s of instantly redeemable Google Play vouchers.

The Game Change Team Behind Blockv
Data Rich Redemption
Blockv can be massively distributed via text message, email, social media and QR code. Vatoms hold a digital value that enables redemption for a real product. Through a smart system, redemptions can be tracked, can be measured, and can connect thousands of venues and clients smartly and effectively. That evening, the participating teams were orchestrated to converge at the bright lights of Piccadilly Circus, home to one of the most famous billboards in the world, Piccadilly Lights. As the game participants and Saturday night crowds waited and wondered as to what was about to happen, a gasp shot across the crowd.
AR Scavenger Hunt
Designed for discovery, a Blockv can be dropped onto a map and captured in augmented reality, giving the opportunity to create a fun and gamified AR experience to enhance the relationship between customers and brands. For the return of Vodafone’s highly successful Vatom-powered AR activation, “Find Unlimited 2020”, Vodafone, BLOCKv, Verizon Media, and Story Lab collaborated to create a bigger and better campaign, this time for the launch of the highly anticipated new Samsung S20 and to celebrate Vodafone’s expanding 5G coverage across the UK. By hunting for Vodafone gameplay Vatoms on the map, users had the chance to win one of over 10,000 tech prizes, including the new Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G.
Reward Social Sharing
A Blockv powered campaign can benefit from social media integration. Since each interaction with a Vatom is stored on the blockchain, it’s possible to provide incentives, instant rewards, and amplify a Vatom campaign with social sharing. To re-engage users and educate them about scoop shops reopening, Ben & Jerry’s and BLOCKv create a simple yet effective, shareable Vatom dynamic. The “Share the Love” campaign, rewarded loyal fans of the iconic ice cream brand with a redeemable scoop Vatom. By simply sharing their Vatom heart with a friend, the user unlocked their delicious Ice Cream reward.
A Vatom can be acquired via image recognition creating an amazing dynamic experience in which customers can easily pull off a virtual object from digital out-of-home media that contains valuable information as part of a game, or that carries a real and redeemable product. They wanted to do something spectacular to support Midnight Madness. When first saw Blockv capabilities, he knew it would help transform Piccadilly Lights into an interactive digital space people can truly engage with,” says Derek Manns, Digital Advertising Manager at Landsec. “This pilot represents a major step towards a new form of innovative and immersive customer engagement.
