What Is Aelin (AELIN)?

Decentralized finance (DeFi) is an emerging financial technology built atop the cryptocurrency industry that brings financial services to blockchains like Ethereum and many others. Instead of having to rely on a trusted intermediary, DeFi allows the future of finance to be fully decentralized and trust less. MetaMask, Hardware Wallet (Trezor / Ledger through MetaMask), Rainbow Wallet (Wallet Connect), MetaMask mobile, etc. If you accept a deal you are charged two fees. One fee is the protocol level fee of 2% which is charged to every deal completed on Aelin, the other fee is a Sponsor Fee, which is specified by the sponsor.

What does Aelin allow you to do?

  • Aelin enables anyone to raise a pool of capital to source fundraising deals.
  • A brings trustless ness and transparency to capital fundraising
  • Pool Investors can invest in early-stage fundraising rounds (think Seed rounds for early ventures) for new and upcoming projects.
  • Protocols can get access to much-needed capital & better align their long-term vision with the community that helped them build towards this vision.
  • All a project needs is a token and deal terms (vesting schedules, etc.)
  • Pool Sponsors can earn a percentage fee for deals they bring.

Pool/Deal Flow

If the HOLDER TOKENS CAP has not been fully redeemed, the Open Redemption Period starts, allowing INVESTORS that have remaining POOL TOKENS to covert them into DEAL TOKENS, until the HOLDER TOKENS CAP has been reached. With both Redemption Periods ended, INVESTORS are now able to Vest their DEAL TOKENS for HOLDER TOKENS, subject to any vesting schedule set by the SPONSOR. After the DEAL is funded by the HOLDER, INVESTORS must Accept or Reject the DEAL before the Pro Rata Redemption Ends, effectively converting their POOL TOKENS to DEAL TOKENS, which represent a claim on the HOLDER TOKENS.

What is Aelin?

Aelin is a protocol that enables the decentralization of the fundraising process. Instead of having to rely on a VC to fund your project and potentially not align with your community and goals, you can sell directly to your community and still see your protocol goals comes to fruition. vAELIN is a 1:1 representation of tokens that were distributed to SNX Stakers. You’ll be charged a 2% protocol level fee to convert, which has been charged to everyone. This is governed through a representative system where token holders elect the Council members who decide protocol level decisions. An is a Improvement Proposal which documents a potential change to the Protocol. Anyone is able to write one and the Council decides by majority.

Does Protocol endorse any particular Pool?

Aelin does not endorse any particular pool. Anybody, including malicious actors, can create a pool because is a decentralized protocol. Users are advised to do their own research and are generally expected to have some familiarity with a pool sponsor before depositing. Community information about available pools are available and likewise not endorsed. As an INVESTOR (aka USER), head over to All Pools and look for a Pool you’d like to join, make sure you understand and review all the details of the pool. You’ll find a description of each term in the Key Terms section.

Can’t a sponsor just run away with my funds?

Due to the design of Aelin, this isn’t possible. The deal sponsor never has access to your funds. They can present a deal to you, and if you decline it, your original ERC-20 will be returned to you. Note that it is possible a sponsor will offer you a seed-stage deal for a token that has no real project backing it, thereby stealing your funds by scamming you only if you accept the deal. It is important to DYOR when accepting deals and investing in early-stage tokens. Larger OTC deals with established protocols do not face the same risk.
